Communication proposes a symbiotic approach whereas it offers both protection against infected meanings and keys for devising and transmitting messages. It only suffices to consider the case of the ?zombie" ant. This is an aggressive species of large ants who found their match in female phorid flies. These hover over fire ants and inject them with their eggs. The eggs grow and the resulting larvae migrate to the ants? heads. For weeks the larva slurps up the brain of the victim ant which is transformed into a sort of zombie as it is forced to march some 50 meters away from the colony to avoid attack by other fire ants. The weirdest action is that the larva guides the ant towards a bed of dry leaves where the baby fly decapitates its host and hatches from its head. The terrifying cycle is analogous to infested communication perverted into manipulation.
